Only four days until...

The Pens are back on the ice! Yes, as many people said, it was billionaires fighting with millionaires, which is pretty sad. And I am still mad that the "everyday people" were out of work or lost business thanks to the stupid lockout. But with the Steelers not in the playoffs this year (and, even worse, the Patriots playing the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game; seriously, who do I root for?), I, and so many others, need hockey to start. I am so looking forward to the puck dropping on Saturday. And Sid staying healthy and being at the top of his. And Geno having a great year. And the power play improving. And Fleury doing some acrobatics while making some monster saves. And Kris Letang's hair. And seeing a Pittsburgh team in the playoffs (and hopefully hoisting a Cup). If only Jordan Stahl were still a 'Guin... The boys are back in town, and I feel fine.

I feel kind of bad for Jeff Reed

When Skippy missed that short field goal last night, I said, just as I did last week when he missed another short(ish) one, "The Steelers must have known what they were doing when they did not sign him to a long-term contract." Not that it would have mattered. The Steelers were totally schooled last night. I did not care so much when they lost to New Orleans. After all, the Saints were the defending Super Bowl champs, who perhaps did not take the Browns (aka the Clowns) as seriously as they probably should have. Plus, the Saints are in the NFC, so no biggie. But for the love to Pete, the Pats, who are, unfortunately, in the AFC, sure seem to have the Steelers' number. As much as I do not like Big Ben (as a person), I thought he played pretty well last weekend (and, yes, I realize, that was against the Bungles). Sure some throws were low or high (I forget), and he probably had an ill-advised pick (who can remember), but he just looked good overall, particularly the way...

18-1

I missed over three quarters of the Big Game, but I watched the 10 minutes that counted. And what mattered the most was when the clock was 0:00, the Giants were victorious. Looks as if Plex was right after all, just not about the final score. During the last five minutes, I felt as if I was watching a Steelers playoff game. And in the final two minutes, it almost felt as if the Steelers were in the Super Bowl. Once Tyree caught that amazing pass with about two minutes to go (or something like that), I ran upstairs to get my cell phone, confident my coworker Robta would be calling me if the game turned out as we had hoped. The woman in me feels a little bit bad that the Pats had to see their perfect season end with a 1 on the end. And it is kind of sad that part of me (and many, many others) wanted them to lose out of jealousy towards such an amazing team, especially the über-talented Tom Brady. But the principled person/Steelers fan in me is glad that Belicheat and his bunch lost to t...
